Gabriele Gravina has been president of the FIGC since 22 October 2018 : elected on the first ballot with 97.20% of the votes, one of the highest figures in history was re-elected on 22 February 2021 with 73.45% of the votes (the other candidate Cosimo Sibilia stopped at 26.25%).
Born on 5 October 1953 in Castellaneta, graduated in law, he has a long experience in the world of sport and football in particular: President and administrator of Castel di Sangro between 1984 and 1996, a period in which the small Abruzzo club wrote a memorable page in Italian football by reaching Serie B; Councilor and member of the Executive of the Serie C League between 1990 and 1992; Vice President of the Technical Sector between 2002 and 2005; Head of Delegation of the Under 21 National Team between 2002 and 2015 and member of the Delegation of the Italian National Team to the 2006 World Cup; Federal Councilor since 1992; Chief Executive Officer, member of the board of directors and CEO of Federcalcio srl between 2005 and 2015; until becoming President of Lega Pro in 2015, a position from which he resigned following the election to the top of the FIGC.
Among other current professional experiences : Vice President and member of the Executive Committee of the Banca di Credito Cooperativo di Roma (since 2015), member of the Carispaq Foundation of the Province of L'Aquila (since 2007); Member of the Board of Directors and Chairman of the local committee of the Banca di Credito Cooperativo di Roma (since 2006).
Previously he held positions in various production sectors : President of the Liquidators' Board of the Consorzio Sviluppo Industriale Val Pescara (2015); Member of the Board of Directors of the Cassa di Risparmio of the Province of L'Aquila (1997/99); Consultant for the corporate strategies of the Cooperative Credit Bank of the Abruzzo National Park of Civitella Alfedena (1996), entrepreneur, Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO of companies operating in the economic and financial sector (since 1978).
