Lorien Urban

Lorien Urban, Ph.D. has an extensive work experience in the field of clinical research and development. Lorien is currently working as the Senior Medical Director, Clinical Development at Ferring Pharmaceuticals since March 2021. Prior to this, they held the position of Director Clinical Research & Biostatistics at Gelesis from November 2014 to March 2021, where they played a key role in shaping clinical development strategies and successfully obtaining regulatory approvals for a novel therapy.

Before joining Gelesis, Lorien worked as a Clinical Research Scientist at the Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging, Tufts University. During their tenure from May 2011 to November 2014, they managed multiple research studies, authored protocols, published groundbreaking papers, and collaborated with international partners.

Additionally, they have also served as a Teaching Fellow at Harvard University in 2012 and as a Clinical Trials Manager at Diagnostic Oncology CRO, Inc. from 2005 to 2007. Lorien'sresponsibilities in these roles included overseeing study teams, managing trial progress, and coordinating with external vendors.

Lorien began their career as a Project Manager at Bristol Myers Squibb from 2003 to 2005, where they successfully led a cross-functional team in producing clinical study reports for a multi-drug oncology project and implemented time-saving processes.

Prior to that, they were the Safety Team Lead at Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group from 2000 to 2003, where they managed adverse event reporting and coordinated department activities.

Lorien Urban, Ph.D., completed their education with a PhD in Biochemical and Molecular Nutrition from Tufts University in 2011. Prior to that, they obtained a Master of Science degree in Biochemical and Molecular Nutrition from the same university in 2009. Lorien holds a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Eastern Nazarene College, which they earned between 1995 and 2000.
