Boris Kogan has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Boris started their career at Microsoft in 1997 as an SDE, where they developed and deployed data-mining algorithms to detect patterns of abuse on the Internet. Boris also implemented best practices for software engineering, resulting in increased productivity and improved code maintenance.
Boris then joined Motricity as a Senior Software Engineer in 2011 before moving on to Intellectual Ventures in 2012, where they played a key role in a development project focused on identifying and assessing risks for companies within an industry or business sector.
In 2014, Boris worked at SecureOne as an SDE before transitioning to freelance work in 2015. During this time, they honed their data science skills and built a portfolio through Kaggle competitions and bioinformatics algorithm studies.
Boris later joined Microsoft again as a Consultant in 2016, working on a cloud app project. In the same year, they also worked at SilverLogic Labs as a Principal Software Engineer, creating a computer vision pipeline to predict TV show ratings based on viewers' reactions and emotions.
From 2017 to 2018, Boris worked at iUNU, Inc. as a Computer Vision Engineer, followed by Neal Analytics in 2018 as a Data Scientist/Computer Vision specialist. In both roles, they focused on making computer vision applications faster and more efficient.
Currently, Boris is employed at Fetch as a Computer Vision Scientist, where their responsibilities include building the company's computer vision practice and developing a state-of-the-art computer vision and natural language processing platform.
Throughout their career, Boris has acquired expertise in various technologies and languages such as Python, CUDA, F#, C++11, machine learning, and feature engineering. Boris has consistently demonstrated a passion for technology and a drive to optimize processes and create innovative solutions.
Boris Kogan obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S) degree in Computer Science from the University of Illinois Chicago in 1992. Following that, they pursued a Master of Science (M.S) degree in Computer Science at the same institution, completing it in 1993.
