Josh Smith has a diverse work experience spanning various roles in creative direction, design, and leadership. Josh is currently serving as the Creative Director and Partner at Fictive Kin since September 2015. Prior to this, they worked as a Freelance Consultant, specializing in creative direction and design, starting from July 2001.

From January 2014 to September 2015, Josh worked as the Director of Brand Design at COLLINS:. Josh also held a significant role at AIGA New York, where they served as the Vice President on the Board of Directors from July 2012 to July 2015.

Josh's experience in creative leadership and design extends to their tenure as the Creative Director at Hyperakt from February 2011 to January 2014. During this time, they led a team of creative professionals while working with clients such as the Ford Foundation, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Unicef, and Google.

In addition to their professional roles, Josh has also contributed to the field of design as a Contributing Writer for Fast Company in 2012 and as a Co-Founder, Editor, and Writer for idsgn.org from 2008 to 2013.

Earlier in their career, they worked as a Senior Designer at Plaid, Inc. from June 2008 to February 2011, where they focused on branding, design, and strategy for international organizations. Josh started their design journey as a Graphic Designer at Gottschalk+Ash International (now Entro) from March 2007 to May 2008.

Josh Smith attended Acadia University from 1997 to 1999, where they studied Computer Science. Josh then attended the University of Calgary from 2001 to 2003, focusing on Business Administration, Management, and Operations. In 2004, they enrolled at Alberta University of the Arts and obtained a BA (Hons) degree in Graphic Design, which they completed in 2008.
