Patrick Varin

Patrick Varin has a diverse work experience in the fields of robotics, engineering, and research. Patrick most recently worked at Figure as a Senior Controls Engineer starting in October 2022. Prior to that, they were a Senior Robotics Planning Engineer at Zipline from June to September 2022. From September 2021 to June 2022, they worked at Cruise as a Senior Robotics/AI Engineer. Before their industry experience, Patrick was a Visiting Researcher at Boston Dynamics from May 2019 to September 2021. Patrick also completed their PHD at Harvard University, where they served as a graduate student from August 2016 to August 2021. Patrick's earlier work experience includes being a Product Manager at Facebook from August 2014 to June 2016. Patrick has also held various roles at Franklin W. Olin College of Engineering, Analogic, University of Notre Dame, and University of Minnesota, gaining experience as a teacher's assistant, SCOPE Project Manager, research intern, and research intern, respectively.

Patrick Varin completed their education from 2010 to 2014, by earning a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Engineering with a focus on Robotics from Franklin W. Olin College of Engineering. Later, they pursued further studies at Harvard University, where they obtained a Master of Science (MS) degree in Computer Science from 2016 to 2018. Patrick continued their academic journey at Harvard University and received a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Computer Science in the years spanning from 2016 to 2021.
