Mikko Impiö

Mikko Impiö is a researcher at the Finnish Environment Institute (SYKE) since September 2020, specializing in the application of computer vision and machine learning for environmental monitoring, including species classification and biodiversity monitoring. Prior experience includes roles as a junior researcher focusing on remote sensing, a research assistant at Tampere University investigating ECG signal processing, and a research trainee at Vaisala exploring computer vision applications. Mikko has also gained expertise in imaging algorithm validation at Intel Corporation and has built data collection systems at Tampere University of Technology. Educational credentials include a Master of Science in Signal Processing and Machine Learning from Tampere University.
