Christiaan Knaap has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and companies.
Christiaan started their career as a Software Engineer at BMA in 1998, where they developed software for different domains using Delphi, ASP, SQL Server, Oracle, and Interbase. In 2003, they transitioned to the role of Information Analyst at Furore, where they conducted information analysis and definition studies for software development and selection projects. Christiaan also worked as a Technisch Specialist, providing software development and advice primarily in .Net.
In 2006, Christiaan worked as a Consultant EMD/WDH at the Ministry of VWS, where they contributed to the implementation of the Electronic Medication Dossier and WaarneemDossier Huisartsen. Christiaan later joined CIZ, supporting the standardization of information systems for the primary process of indicating appointments.
In 2008, they became a Software Architect at BMA and then transitioned to the role of Information Architect at the AMC. At the AMC, they developed architecture for a patient portal and provided support in CMS selection and PACS implementation.
In 2013, Christiaan joined NWO as an Ontwerper en Scrum Master, where they led the development team in both design and process aspects. Later, they worked as a Lead Developer Vonk at Furore, developing Vonk, the primary server platform for FHIR integration.
In 2018, Christiaan joined Firely as the Head of Product, where they are involved in the development of friendly, fast, and secure tools for health IT adoption of FHIR.
Throughout their career, Christiaan has emphasized the use of FHIR to improve data transcription and communication in the healthcare industry.
Christiaan Knaap attended Alkwin Kollege Uithoorn from 1987 to 1993, where they pursued VWO. Following that, from 1993 to 1998, they studied Mathematics at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU Amsterdam), earning their drs/MSc degree.
