Van Nguyen has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades in various software engineering and leadership roles. Starting in 2000, Van began their career as a Software Engineer at Nascent Technologies and Network Solutions. In 2004, they became a Lead Software Architect at FCI, and in 2010, they transitioned to the role of Senior Principal Software Engineer at General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems.
In 2013, Van joined The Washington Post as a Lead Developer and later became a Principal Software Engineer. After six years at the company, they moved to Hawaiian Airlines in 2020, where they worked as a Senior Software Engineer for a brief period.
Van's most recent role was at First Hawaiian Bank, where they served as a Senior Software Engineer before being promoted to Assistant Vice President of Emerging Technologies. After that, they took on the role of AVP & Software Engineering Manager and then became the VP of Digital Engineering, a position they currently hold.
