Robert Van Rens has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Robert started their career as a Research Analyst at Marlowe and Company, LLC, where they conducted research and wrote newsletters. Robert then worked as an Event Coordinator at OKA (Otto Kroeger Associates) and as an Independent Business Owner at Thatpotteryguy Studios.
In 1998, Robert began working as a Researcher and Historic Preservation Consultant, providing historical research and consulting services for contractors, developers, and non-profit organizations. Robert also worked as an Investigator at DSM Services for a brief period.
In 2017, Robert joined the Maryland General Assembly as a Legislative Director, where they assisted with legislation drafting and managed constituent outreach. Robert later became a Legislative Coordinator, overseeing the end-of-session process and managing the delegation office.
In 2019, Robert became a Principal at Monocacy Consulting (formerly NVR Associates LLP). Robert then joined Shepherd University as a Project Manager, where they managed the development of a distance learning program and coordinated various academic departments and technology.
In 2021, Robert took a break from their career to pursue a political role as a Candidate for Alderman in the City of Frederick, MD. Robert served as the campaign manager, organizing the campaign, managing volunteers, and engaging in community outreach and fundraising.
Currently, Robert is working as a Project Manager at First San Francisco Partners, where they are responsible for overseeing projects.
Robert Van Rens pursued their education in a variety of fields. From 1992 to 1994, they attended the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, where they focused on Communication and Media Studies. In 1994, they furthered their education at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Physical Anthropology. During the same year, they also briefly attended the University of West London, where they studied History.
In 2020, Robert completed a Graduate Certificate program in Ceramic Arts and Ceramics at Hood College. Additionally, in November 2007, they received a certification as a Handgun Safety Instructor from the National Rifle Association.
