Timothy Blackwood is an experienced professional with extensive involvement in ethical debate coaching and community leadership. Since September 2010, Timothy has served as a volunteer Ethics Bowl debate coach at the Philosophy Department of San Jose State University, assisting students in developing and presenting arguments on complex ethical dilemmas. Additionally, Timothy has contributed to the First Unitarian Church of San Jose as a volunteer Humanist Group Leader, where program development and monthly meetings have been a focus since June 2008. As a board member of the United States Lighthouse Society since 2006, Timothy participates in quarterly meetings and committee work. Timothy's prior experience includes a notable tenure as a Deputy District Attorney for Santa Clara County from 1974 to 2004, managing trial work and supervising multiple teams. Timothy holds a JD from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, a Master’s degree in History and Philosophy of Science from Indiana University Bloomington, a BA in Philosophy from the University of California, Berkeley, and earlier coursework in Pre-med at the College of San Mateo.
