Michael Montaque

Michael Montaque, MBA, CPA, has substantial leadership experience in internal audit and financial controls. Currently serving as Vice President and Chief Audit Executive at FirstEnergy since July 2021, Michael previously held the role of Chief Audit Executive at Alliant Energy from 2012 to July 2021. Earlier positions include Director of Internal Audit at Exelon Corporation, where responsibilities included managing comprehensive audit plans, and Vice President of Financial Controls at Career Education Corporation, overseeing enterprise-wide financial risks and compliance programs. Michael began professional endeavors as Vice President of Internal Audit at Washington Mutual, leading the audit function within the Mortgage Operation. Michael holds an MBA from Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management, completed in 2006.
