Matthew Vreeland has a diverse work experience spanning several organizations and roles. Matthew has served as a Medical Director, Associate Chief Medical Information Officer, and Physician Informaticist at FirstHealth of the Carolinas, where they were involved in enhancing care delivery, improving outcomes, and implementing the Epic electronic health record system. Matthew also held leadership positions, such as Chair of ByLaws Committee, Chair of Credentials Committee, and President of the Medical Staff at Moore Regional Hospital. Additionally, Matthew has experience as an Emergency Medicine Physician and Shareholder at Sandhills Emergency Physicians, providing care and serving in quality and leadership roles. Matthew has also contributed to the American Academy of Emergency Medicine as a Volunteer Faculty for their Oral Board Review Course. Prior to this, they served in the US Army as an Emergency Physician, Chief of Emergency Medicine at Womack Army Medical Center, and EMS Medical Director. Matthew began their career as a Systems Coordinator in the Department of Quality Assessment at Tufts-New England Medical Center.
Matthew Vreeland completed their education with a BA in Health and Society from the University of Rochester in 1989, followed by an MS in Public Policy Analysis from the same university in 1990. Matthew further pursued their education at the Uniformed Services University from 1993 to 1997, where they obtained an MD degree in Medicine. Additionally, they hold several certifications, including Certified Physician Executive from the American Association for Physician Leadership in 2013 and Diplomate, Board Certified in Emergency Medicine from the American Board of Emergency Medicine in 2003.
