Gillian Roberts

Gillian is multimedia director for CQ Roll Call, where she leads the newsroom’s growing video, photo, and audio journalism efforts, bringing policy and politics to life. She specializes in building new storytelling teams, having previously co-founded the data and graphics team for CQ Roll Call in 2015.

Gillian previously worked at B2B publishing house SourceMedia as managing editor of Employee Benefit Adviser magazine, covering the historic, transitional time in the health insurance industry with the opening of the Obamacare exchanges. She also spent a year and a half at Bloomberg News on the White House press team during the Obama administration. Prior to journalism, Gillian began her career at Edelman Public Relations, working primarily on grassroots marketing in the health care field.

Gillian holds Bachelor of Arts degrees in English and Communications from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana, and a Master’s of Science in Journalism from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism, where she concentrated in Broadcast.

Originally from Chicago, she naturally enjoys seeking out warm-weather travel destinations for pleasure, including Mexico City, Istanbul and any beach in Florida. She’s also an amateur hiker and avid fan of Broadway plays and musicals.
