Hemant Chaurasia has a diverse work experience in various industries. Starting in 2022, they worked as the Chief Product Officer at Fleet Space Technologies, a space-enabled exploration technology company focused on discovering critical minerals for the global economy's decarbonization efforts. Prior to this, they were the VP of Product Management at Astra from 2019 to 2022. During their tenure, they played a key role in taking Astra public and raising significant funding, led the development of product roadmaps and release plans, and contributed to the successful orbital launch and satellite delivery. Before joining Astra, Hemant worked at McKinsey & Company as an Engagement Manager from 2014 to 2018. Hemant led strategic projects for Fortune 100 companies, specializing in aerospace, tech, and manufacturing industries. Hemant began their career at MIT, where they pursued a PhD and worked as a Graduate Research Assistant and Teaching Assistant. Hemant also had roles at the MIT $100K Entrepreneurship Competition, AMOG Consulting, the University of Sydney, and the Centre for Astrophysics & Supercomputing at Swinburne University of Technology.

Hemant Chaurasia began their education at Haileybury College in 1994 and completed their secondary education in 2002. Hemant then attended Monash University from 2003 to 2007, earning a Bachelor of Engineering (1st Class Honours) in Mechanical Engineering and a Bachelor of Science in Physics & Mathematical Sciences. Hemant continued their studies at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) from 2008 to 2010, obtaining a Master of Science degree in Aeronautics and Astronautics. Hemant then pursued a PhD in Aerospace Computational Engineering at MIT from 2010 to 2014.
