Bill Johnston

Bill Johnston has a diverse work experience spanning several industries and roles. Bill started their career as an Accounts Payable Coordinator at Mellon Financial Corporation in 2003. Bill then moved to Digitas, where they held various finance roles, including Coordinator, Finance; Analyst, Finance; Senior Analyst, Finance; Manager, Finance; and Associate Director, Finance. At Digitas, they were responsible for financial operations, forecasting, and developing new client contracts.

In 2012, Bill joined Nokia as the Business Operations Lead for the Infrastructure Services group, where they managed day-to-day operations and strategic initiatives. Bill also served as a liaison between HR, finance, and legal teams.

From 2014 to 2022, Bill worked at HERE, first as a Business Operations Manager and later as a Senior Business Operations Manager. In these roles, they managed a 75M EUR budget, identified areas for efficiency, and led initiatives to reduce spending. Bill also played a significant role in the complex separation activities related to HERE's divestiture with Microsoft.

Currently, Bill serves as the Engineering Business Operations Director at Flexera, a position they took on in 2022.

Bill Johnston earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Allegheny College, with a major in Economics and double minors in Communication Arts and Psychology. Bill also obtained certifications as a FinOps Certified Practitioner from the FinOps Foundation in January 2022 and December 2023.
