Wendy McFarland has a long history of work experience in the software development industry. Wendy began their career in 1996 as an Internet Production Coordinator at Johns Hopkins University Press, where they personally implemented 21 of the 42 inaugural publications to a ground-breaking scholarly journals eCommerce site. In 1998, they moved on to become an Internet System Administrator at Editorial Projects in Education, where they accelerated production times and eliminated expensive-to-maintain dependencies by porting legacy print-to-web routines to Perl. In 1999, they began working at The National Academies Press as a LAMP Developer, where they were responsible for all print-to-web operations for many years and eventually transitioned its production to outsourced digitization. Also in 1999, they were the technology lead behind the first issues of Issues in Science & Technology published online. In 2000, they were a technology lead behind the first year of print-to-web conversions for The History Cooperative. From 2012 to 2015, they worked as a LAMP Developer at Requoia, where they developed ETL and validation routines for converting flat-file data to an XML schema used by publishers to exchange comprehensive bibliographic, availability, and territorial rights information for forthcoming and backlist products with industry retailers and data aggregators. From 2014 to 2015, they worked as a Sr. PHP Developer at Televisa Internacional, where they worked on the video-on-demand division of the company. From 2014 to 2016, they worked as a Web Developer at Plum Media Group. Finally, from 2016 to the present, they have been working as an API Data Conversion Developer at FBS Data Systems Inc.
Wendy McFarland obtained their BA in Psychology from Wheaton College Massachusetts. Wendy has also obtained several certifications, including Real Estate Data - Business (RED-B) from the Real Estate Standards Organization (RESO) in September 2022, C100DEV: Database Developer, MongoDB 3 from MongoDB, Inc. in October 2015, CMDEV - Database Developer, MySQL 5 from Oracle in March 2014, CMDBA - Database Administrator, MySQL 5 from Oracle in October 2013, PSM - Professional Scrum Master I from Scrum.org in March 2011, and ZCE - PHP Engineer, PHP 5 from Zend Technologies in March 2009.
