Averen Deonanan

Averen Deonanan has a strong background in finance and accounting, with extensive experience in leadership positions. Averen is currently the Chief Financial Officer at Flight Centre Travel Group South Africa, a role they have held since April 2022. Prior to this, they worked at Allen & Overy as the Head of Finance from August 2015 to March 2022. Averen also served as the Head of Finance - South and Southern Africa at GSK from July 2013 to August 2015. Averen has held financial management positions at Barclays Investment Bank and Absa, where they worked from 2012 to 2013 and 2011, respectively. Earlier in their career, they gained experience in accounting roles at South African Breweries and PKF, where they began their professional journey as a Trainee Accountant in 2004.

Averen Deonanan has a diverse education history. In 2000-2002, they earned their Bachelor's degree in Commerce, majoring in Accounting and Finance, from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. Averen continued their studies at the same university and obtained a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree in Accounting in 2003. Following this, in 2004-2007, they pursued a degree from the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants, becoming a Chartered Accountant (SA). In 2008-2009, Averen completed a degree from The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, earning the titles of ACMA and CGMA. Averen further enhanced their educational qualifications with a Master's degree in Business Science from the Gordon Institute of Business Science in 2010-2011, specializing in Business Administration and Management. Currently, they are enrolled at SAIBA, working towards a Cert.Fin.Officer (SA) degree.
