Mike Vlad Cora

Mike Vlad Cora has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. Mike Vlad is the Founder of OMAI Consulting Ltd., a company they established in 2023. Prior to this, they worked at Flipboard as a Principal Software Engineer and Recommendations Lead from June 2021 onwards. In this role, they led the Recommendations team, re-architecting the entire C++ | Python | Java stack and training and productionizing key models. Before that, they held the positions of Staff Software Engineer and Senior Software Engineer, Data Science at Flipboard from October 2017 to June 2021 and October 2015 to October 2017, respectively.

Earlier in their career, Mike served as the CTO and Lead Architect at socilogica from April 2013 to October 2015, where they were responsible for product design, software architecture, project management, recruiting, client relations, and coding. Mike Vlad also worked at United Front Games as a Lead Gameplay Programmer from August 2008 to April 2013, Next Level Games as a Lead AI Programmer from November 2004 to July 2008, Electronic Arts/BlackBox as a Physics Programmer from August 2002 to November 2004, BlackBox Games Inc. as a Software Developer in 2002, Yummy Interactive Inc. as a Software Developer from February 2000 to February 2002, and Ensemble Systems Inc. as a Software Developer from June 1996 to February 2000.

Mike Vlad Cora earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Simon Fraser University, where they studied from 1997 to 2002. Mike Vlad later pursued a Master of Science degree in Computer Science from The University of British Columbia from 2005 to 2008. In addition to their formal education, Mike obtained several certifications in various aspects of machine learning and artificial intelligence from Coursera Course Certificates.
