Simon Helsen

Simon Helsen has over 18 years of professional experience. Simon began their career in 2003 as a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the University of Waterloo. In 2004 they moved to Interactive Objects Software as a Software Engineer. In 2005 they joined SAP as a Senior Developer and Development Architect. In 2008 they moved to IBM as an Advisory Software Developer and Senior Software Developer. In 2016 they joined Shopify as a Development Manager, Senior Development Manager and Staff Software Engineer. In 2022 they moved to Float as a Senior Staff Engineer.

Simon Helsen has a long education history. Simon obtained a High School degree from Sint-Albertuscollege in 1993. Afterwards, they studied Informatica at KU Leuven and obtained a Licentiaat degree in 1997. In 1998, they attended the University of Tübingen for a year of Computer Science studies. Finally, they received a Ph.D in Computer Science from the University of Freiburg in 2002. In 2018, they also obtained a Talk Master Certification from Speaker Labs.
