John Petrel

John Petrel is the President and Co-Founder of FloorSoft. John has over 30 years of experience in the carpet industry and is an expert in automating carpet manufacturing processes and increasing operating efficiency.

John Petrel co-founded Optimum Solutions, Inc. in 1990 and served as its Owner until 1998. At Optimum Solutions, John developed numerous systems to improve the profitability of carpet manufacturers via inventory optimization. John specialized in reducing production costs and preserving inventory value by minimizing and marketing short rolls, regulating dyelot production and utilization, and dynamically responding to changes in market demand. 80% of all carpet orders placed in the US today are handled by one or more of these systems.

Prior to Optimum Solutions, John Petrel owned Unique Consultants, a company they founded in 1985 which provided automated carpet manufacturing processes and increased operating efficiency to numerous carpet manufacturing facilities. Their clients included Shaw Industries, Mohawk Industries, Galaxy Carpet Mills, Salem Carpet, World Carpet, Queen Carpet, Wunda Weave, and Royalty Carpets.

Before owning Unique Consultants, John Petrel served as the Director of Production Planning, Scheduling, Purchasing at West Point Pepperell from 1981 to 1986. John then served as the Director of Engineering at Salem Carpet from 1979 to 1981.

John Petrel has a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from The University of Alabama.
