Software Engineer at Flox

Zach Mitchell, PhD, has a diverse range of work experience. Zach began their career as an REU Student at Alabama A&M University, where they characterized organic solar cell materials and ferroelectric capacitor materials. Zach then worked as a Residential Computing Consultant at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Zach pursued their PhD at Purdue University, where they served as a Research Assistant. In this role, they designed and built time-resolved laser spectroscopy systems to study the energy exchange in proteins involved in photosynthesis. Zach also conducted computational modeling and software development for their research. Additionally, at Purdue, they volunteered as an instructor for Code Cafe, teaching advanced topics in Python to students of all levels.

After completing their PhD, Zach took on a freelance role as a Technical Writer for LogRocket, where they wrote educational articles on Rust programming topics. Zach then joined Standard AI as a Software Engineer, working on an autonomous checkout system based on computer vision.

Currently, Zach is working as a Software Engineer at flox.

Zach Mitchell, PhD, pursued their education in the field of Physics, starting with their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, which they earned from 2009 to 2013. Following their undergraduate studies, they attended Purdue University from 2013 to 2022, where they successfully completed their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Physics.
