Thijs De Smet has extensive work experience in various roles and industries. Thijs started their career in 2006 as an Online journalist at VRT. Thijs then worked as a Freelance journalist at Knack from 2006 to 2008. After that, they joined AG Insurance as a Copywriter Commercial Communication for a short period. In 2007, they started working at Com&Co as a Senior Corporate Copywriter and Senior Project Manager, where they were responsible for editing and writing various types of texts for different clients. In 2012, they joined Eandis as a Teamleider Woordcommunicatie and later became the Communications manager (Diensthoofd Woord- en Beeldcommunicatie) until 2018. Since 2018, Thijs has been working at Fluvius as the Head of Brand and Creative.

Thijs De Smet completed a Master's degree in Journalism at Ghent University from the years 2005 to 2006. Prior to that, they obtained a Master's degree in Germanic Languages (Dutch/English) from Ghent University between 2001 and 2005.
