Y. Kyle Lai, Ph.D.

Y. Kyle Lai, Ph.D. has a wealth of experience in the field of algorithm engineering and research. Starting in 1998, they were a Senior Scientist at Welltel Network, Inc. In 2001, they became a DSP Specialist at Match Lab, Inc., where they developed image processing algorithms for ASIC chips. In 2004, they joined Sharp Laboratories of America as a Senior Engineer/Researcher and filed multiple patents while developing computer vision, signal processing, and machine learning solutions. In 2019, they were a Senior Research Engineer at Cognize Inc., where they lead the AI team in developing machine learning models for anomaly detection and built the data pipeline from edge vision metadata streaming, data storage, tensorflow training and serving. In 2020, they became a Senior Algorithm Engineer at Shell Recharge, and in 2022 they joined Fluxergy as an Algorithm Engineer.

Y. Kyle Lai, Ph.D. attended National Taiwan University from 1987 to 1991, where they earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. Y. Kyle then continued their education at the University of Southern California, where they earned a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering in 1996 and a Ph.D in Electrical Engineering in 1998.
