Andrea Raffin has a wealth of experience in the engineering field. In 2022, they began working as a Firmware Lead Engineer at Flyability. From 2017 to present, they have been a Mechatronics & Software Engineer at ALPI AVIATION SRL, where they designed, prototyped, debugged, maintained, and managed the batch manufacturing of a wide variety of PCB boards. Additionally, they designed and coded firmwares for STM32 microcontrollers and peripheral ICs, customized and maintained part of the UAV autopilot firmware, and designed and maintained a Qt5/C++ GUI application. From 2017 to present, they have also been a Mechatronics & Software Engineer at TSM - Technological Systems by Moro S.r.l., where they researched for wireless positioning systems and implemented Kalman Filter for position filtering using MATLAB Code Generation, as well as created and maintained embedded C++ and Python code to manage motors, encoders, ultrasonic sensors, and steering for a prototype of self-driving industrial vacuum cleaner. In 2015, they were a Vehicle Dynamics Control Engineer (Internship) at Magneti Marelli S.p.A., where they researched and implemented a longitudinal vehicle control algorithm capable of reducing the number of identification parameters, maintaining a comfort acceleration, and achieving robustness to parameters variations. In 2011, they were a Laboratory Control Engineer (Internship) at the International School for Advanced Studies (SISSA), where they developed a LabVIEW program to display, record, and analyze force measurements, and to control the position of a piezoelectric nanopositioner stage containing in vitro living cells. Andrea also developed a post-processing algorithm to clean the force data from the nanopositioner actions.
Andrea Raffin obtained a Bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering from Università degli Studi di Trieste in 2013. Andrea then went on to pursue a Master's degree in Mechatronic Engineering from Politecnico di Torino, which they completed in 2016. In 2015, they also obtained an IELTS 6.5 certification from the British Council.
