Nicholas Young

Nicholas Young is a Geographic Information Systems Technician at FOCUS Broadband since May 2020, responsible for preparing and maintaining maps and databases for the ATMC Outside Plant Engineering Department, using various software including GIS and CAD. Prior experience includes working as a Contractor for Byers Engineering Company from June 2017 to May 2020, supporting ATMC's fiber optic upgrade project, and volunteering as a GIS volunteer with the Leland Volunteer Fire/Rescue Department and Brunswick County Government, where notable projects included creating ArcGIS databases and detailed maps. Nicholas also gained valuable experience as a GIS Intern with Pender County Government and Wilmington Fire Protection District. Academically, Nicholas holds a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Geographic Information Science and Cartography and a Bachelor of Arts in Geography from the University of North Carolina Wilmington, along with an Associate of Science in General Studies from Northern Virginia Community College.
