Dr. Martin Sokol

Dr. Martin Sokol has a diverse work experience in various engineering roles. Dr. Martin began their career at Drevoenergia in 2002, where they worked as a Mechanical Design Engineer until 2011. From 2011 to 2014, Dr. Sokol worked at the Department of Design and Mechanical Elements at the University of Žilina, holding multiple positions including Researcher, Mechanical Engineer, FEA Engineer, CAD Designer, and Teacher. In 2014, they joined ELI Beamlines as a Vacuum Engineer, and later transitioned to the role of Senior Mechanical Design Engineer before leaving in 2021. Currently, in 2021, Dr. Sokol is employed by Focused Energy Inc. as a Senior Laser Engineer.

Dr. Martin Sokol has a diverse and extensive education history. Dr. Martin began their academic journey at the University of Zilina, where they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Dopravné stroje a zariadenia in 2009. Dr. Martin then pursued a Master's degree in Design of Machinery and Equipment at the same university, graduating in 2011 with the title of Ing. (Master of Science in Engineering).

In 2010, Dr. Sokol had the opportunity to participate in the European Project Semester (EPS) at the Ecole Nationale d'Ingénieurs de Tarbes - ENIT.

After completing their Master's degree, Dr. Sokol continued their studies at the University of Zilina, where they obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Machine Parts and Mechanisms in 2014. During this time, they also engaged in a research stay at the Czech Technical University in Prague through the CEEPUS program in 2014.

In addition to their formal education, Dr. Sokol has acquired several certifications. In 2006, they received the Autodesk Academia Certificate - Autodesk Inventor from the Secondary Technical School in Zvolen. In 2005, they earned the Zusatzqualifikation Programmieren von CNC-Maschinen Drehen und Fräsen from DÜRR Anlagenbau Ges.m.b.H. in Zistersdorf. Lastly, in 2013, they obtained the TOEIC - Test of English for International Communication from ETS - Educational Testing Service.
