Derek Knighton is a seasoned professional in the fields of food science and technology, currently serving as a Senior Research Scientist at Fonterra since November 2018, focusing on the Food Science Group. In addition to this role, Derek has been the Director of Knighton Research Ltd since July 2010, providing contracting services for scientific and technological research and development in the dairy and meat industries. Between June 2000 and June 2010, Derek held the position of Group Leader at Agresearch in New Zealand, where responsibilities included applied science and technology contracting for the dairy and meat industries. Derek earned a PhD in Chemistry from Massey University, completing the degree between 1974 and 1978.
