Ashley Portman

Ashley Portman is an experienced freelance journalist and social media manager with a focus on agroecology and food security. Since September 2016, Ashley has documented indigenous agroecology efforts through the Seed The Earth Initiative, highlighting seed sovereignty and traditional practices. Additionally, Ashley has served as the Social Media Manager for Food Tank, promoting equitable food policies globally. As a freelance writer and editor, Ashley has contributed to It'sJustAPaperTiger.com since March 2016. Previously, Ashley held roles as Program Director for Yough Rising Project, fostering community engagement for at-risk youth, and as a Behavioral Instructor in the Union Elementary School District, providing counseling and mentoring. Educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the State University of New York at Fredonia, with ongoing studies at Green Comfort Herbal School and the Community Investment Collaborative.
