Steven Stainbrook, AICP has a diverse work experience in the field of urban design, planning, and architecture. Steven has held various leadership roles at different companies and institutions. From 2018 to 2023, they worked as a Principal at Francis Cauffman, where they focused on integrating policy, programming, and market forces with design. Prior to that, they were an Associate Principal and Director of Planning at Martinez+Johnson Architecture in 2017-2018, and a Principal at H3 Hardy Collaboration Architecture from 2014 to 2017. In addition to their professional roles, Steven also served as an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Planning at New York University, Wagner Graduate School of Public Service from 2007 to 2017, where they taught a core course on Introduction to Urban Design. Steven's expertise also extends to higher education planning and design, as they held the position of Director of Higher Education at Francis Cauffman from 2012 to 2014, and Director of Campus Planning + Urban Designer at H3 Hardy Collaboration Architecture from 2010 to 2012. Steven started their career as an Associate Principal at Kise Straw Kolodner from 2007 to 2009 and as an Associate at Pfeiffer Partners from 2006 to 2007. Currently, Steven is working as the Director of University Facilities Planning and Programming at Fordham University, where they collaborate with major university stakeholders to develop long and short-term facilities programs.
Steven Stainbrook, AICP has a diverse education background. Steven graduated from Ball State University in 1995 with a B.Architecture and a BS in Environmental Design. Later, from 1995 to 1997, Steven pursued an MAUD in Urban Design and Planning at Harvard University Graduate School of Design. Additionally, they obtained a Masters of Architecture in Urban Design from Harvard University during the same period.
