Jacob Carstens has a diverse work experience in various roles and companies. Starting in 2001, they worked as a Java developer at 2B-Mobile for a brief period. In 2001, they also worked as a web developer at GongGong.com, where they optimized the website layout and design and added advanced search and CMS features.

From 2007 to 2008, Jacob worked as a web developer at DBC, designing and implementing a backend system for ebog.dk. Jacob also implemented a statistics module with graph drawing and Excel export functionality.

In 2007, they joined SportsBuddy as a software developer, where they implemented the backend system for an online fitness training platform. Jacob worked on mp3 metadata extraction, database and file formats, and integration with iTunes. Jacob also developed an audio module that automatically adjusted the volume of music while the instructor speaks.

From 2009 to 2009, Jacob worked as a web designer and developer for DEO - Demokrati i Europa, where they designed and implemented the educational portal http://deo.dk/undervisning/.Jacob used Silverstripe CMS and jQuery for the website.

In 2010, Jacob founded their own venture, Livelab.dk, where they developed computer music software and sold it to private customers online.

Also in 2010, they briefly served as the CTO at Smart-ebizz.

From 2010 to 2015, Jacob worked as a Senior Technical Lead in the implementation department at CDRator A/S. Jacob worked on scoping and solution architecture for large-scale, database-driven enterprise solutions for the telco sector.

Starting in 2015, Jacob joined KMD as a Senior Developer. Jacob contributed to the development of the KMD Nexus platform/Avaleo, using a modern Java technology stack with Spring, Node.js, Angular, MySQL, Hibernate, Git, and Docker.

Most recently, in 2021, Jacob joined Forecast as a Senior Developer. Jacob is involved in the development of the Forecast Resource and Project Management platform, utilizing Java, Typescript, React, Serverless, GraphQL, AWS, and Continuous deployment.

Jacob Carstens has a diverse education history. Jacob started their academic journey by attending Aurehøj amtsgymnasium from 1994 to 1996, where they pursued a range of subjects with a focus on math and science. After completing high school, they enrolled at Roskilde University in 1997 and obtained a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Communications, which they completed in 2000.

Seeking further education, Jacob returned to Roskilde University in 2001 and pursued a Candidate (1. module) in Communications and Computer Science. However, they decided to take a break and participate in an exchange program at Chalmers University of Technology from 2002 to 2003, studying Art and Technology. After their exchange program, Jacob resumed their studies at Roskilde University and graduated in 2010 with a Master of Arts in Communication technologies, specializing in Communications and Computer Science.
