Phyllis Solomon has had extensive work experience in the legal field. Phyllis is currently the General Counsel at both Foresite Capital and Foresite Labs, starting in 2019. Prior to this, they worked at CSAA Insurance Group from 2012 to 2019, holding the position of Vice President, Deputy General Counsel, Corporate Legal Affairs & Assistant Secretary. During their time at CSAA Insurance Group, they played a key role in designing and implementing a new corporate governance framework, managed various legal functions, and transformed the legal department into a strategic business partner.
Before joining CSAA Insurance Group, Phyllis worked at Dolby Laboratories, Inc., where they served as the Vice President & Assistant General Counsel and Assistant Secretary from 2004 to 2012. Phyllis was instrumental in establishing and scaling the global corporate legal affairs function and successfully led the legal work for Dolby's IPO.
Prior to their role at Dolby Laboratories, Phyllis worked at Farella Braun + Martel LLP as a Corporate Securities Partner and Chair, Securities Group. During their tenure from 1998 to 2004, they advised private and public companies on complex financings, commercial transactions, and general corporate matters.
Phyllis's legal career began at Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal, where they worked as a Corporate/Real Estate Associate from 1994 to 1998. Phyllis advised public companies on securities offerings and strategic transactions and negotiated various commercial agreements.
Earlier in their career, Phyllis gained valuable experience as an extern for The Honorable Fern M. Smith at the United States District Court in 1993. Phyllis also served as a Summer Law Clerk at Marin County Counsel in 1992.
Throughout their career, Phyllis has demonstrated expertise in corporate governance, strategic transactions, securities compliance, and commercial law. Phyllis has consistently proven herself as a valuable asset to organizations, transforming legal functions and serving as a trusted business partner to senior leadership.
Phyllis Solomon has a diverse educational background. In 1982, they started their undergraduate studies at Pomona College, where they graduated in 1986 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations. Following this, in 1987, they pursued a Master's Program in Political Science at Universidad de los Andes (VE), although the duration of this program is not specified. Later on, from 1991 to 1994, Phyllis attended the University of California, College of the Law, San Francisco (formerly UC Hastings), where they obtained their Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree.
In addition to their formal education, Phyllis Solomon also holds a certification as a Certified Equity Professional. This certification was obtained at Santa Clara University, Leavey School of Business in an unspecified month of the year 2006.
