Mark Wallace has extensive experience in various roles related to digital technology, cybersecurity, governance, and risk management. Currently, they serve as the Head of Digital Technology (Energy) at Fortescue, where they are responsible for the digital technology strategy and transformation agenda to achieve 'real zero' emissions by 2030. Previously, they were the Head of Cyber Security at Fortescue, leading the cyber security strategy and program across multiple environments. Additionally, Mark has served on governance and risk committees at Wesley College, Perth, and the City of Canning. Mark has also held leadership positions at Blue Zoo Advisory, where they were a Non-Executive Director, Founding Partner, and Chief Executive Officer. Mark has been involved in the information security field, providing expertise in governance, cybersecurity, and risk advisory roles at the Bank of Scotland and Kilarney. Mark has also worked as a Director at the Information Systems Audit & Control Association and as a Software Development Manager at Actian Corporation.
Mark Wallace has an extensive education history. In 1990, they completed high school at Wesley College, Perth. Following this, they pursued a Bachelor's Degree in Architecture at The University of Western Australia from 1997 to 1999. Mark then continued their studies at the same university, completing a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science and Mathematics from 1999 to 2002. Mark furthered their education by obtaining certifications in information security, including the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) from (ISC)² in 2002 and the Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) and Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) from ISACA in 2007. In 2009, Mark earned the designation of Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT (CGEIT) from ISACA, which was a grandfathered certification. Later, in 2005, they pursued a Master's Degree in Business Administration (MBA) at The University of Western Australia, completing it in 2012. Recently, in 2019, they attended the MIT Sloan School of Management for a specialized program in AI Business Strategy. Currently, Mark is enrolled in a Diploma of Mineral Resources and Energy Management at The University of Western Australia, expected to be completed in 2023.
