Rachel Russell

21st Century Skills Instructor at FOUNDATION FOR CALIFORNIA COMMUNITY COLLEGES

Rachel Russell has a diverse work experience in the field of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and environmental planning. Rachel started their career as a Teaching Assistant at Arizona State University in 2005 and then moved on to work as a PhD Teaching Assistant at the University of Southern California from 2007 to 2013. In 2013, they became an Assistant Professor of Environmental Planning and Policy at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay until 2015. From 2015 to 2019, they worked as an Assistant Professor of GIS at San Diego Mesa College and later became an Associate Professor in the same field. In 2018, they also worked as a 21st Century Skills Instructor at the Foundation for California Community Colleges.

Rachel Russell obtained their Bachelor of Arts degree in International Affairs and Spanish from The George Washington University from 2001 to 2005. Rachel then pursued their Master's degree in Geography at Arizona State University from 2005 to 2007. Rachel's education journey continued at the University of Southern California, where they completed their Ph.D. in Geography, Political Ecology, and Spatial Science from 2007 to 2013.
