Tony French

Associate Director, Systems Engineering at Francis Medical

Tony French has a diverse work experience in the medical device industry, spanning over several companies. Tony began their career at Boston Scientific in 2003 as a Test Engineer, where they developed and validated LabVIEW and C++ test applications for implantable cardiac devices. Tony also designed test systems and fixtures and collaborated with manufacturing representatives to develop efficient automated tests.

In 2005, Tony joined Medtronic as a Test Engineer, where they continued to develop and validate LabVIEW test software applications and instrumentation drivers for automated design verification testing. Tony specialized in areas such as MRI Compatibility, RF Telemetry, Brady Pacing, Regulated Supplies, Clocks, and the Automated Test User Interface. Later on, they transitioned to the role of Senior Device Engineer, leading Corrective and Preventative Action (CAPA) investigations for released products and defining requirements for MRI-compatible implantable cardiac devices.

In 2013, Tony joined CareFusion as a Senior Electrical Engineer, playing a key role in designing the next generation of a portable ventilator generating over $100 million in annual revenue. Tony was responsible for electrical design, simulation, and schematic capture, as well as collaborating with board houses on board layout, fabrication, and manufacturing.

Tony then moved to AtriCure, Inc. in 2016, initially serving as a Senior Electrical Engineer before being promoted to Principal Electrical Engineer in 2018. Tony'sresponsibilities included leading the electrical engineering team and contributing to the development of innovative medical devices.

Currently, Tony works at Francis Medical as the Principal Systems Engineering Manager, a position they assumed in February 2022. No end date has been provided for their roles at Francis Medical and is thus assumed to be ongoing.

Tony French attended Marquette University from 1998 to 2002. During this time, they pursued a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering, specializing in Bioelectronics. Tony also completed a minor in Biology.
