Griffin Mertz, USPTA, PPR, PTR, currently serves as the Head Men’s & Women’s Tennis Coach at Lawrence Technological University since August 2021, alongside responsibilities as WHAC Tennis Chair. Mertz has extensive coaching experience, previously holding roles such as Interim Head Coach and Assistant Coach at the same university, and directing junior development programs. As a Certified Professional Tennis Instructor at Franklin Athletic Club, Mertz oversees training for all skill levels. Additional experience includes roles at Wabeek Club and Birmingham Athletic Club, where program development and player engagement were key responsibilities. Mertz has a solid athletic background, having competed as a Division II Tennis Player at Wayne State University, where academic and athletic achievements were recognized. Educational credentials include a Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems from Wayne State University.
