Yon Janssen

Yon Janssen is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in international development and governance. Currently serving as a Senior Programme Coordinator at Free Press Unlimited since September 2021, Yon focuses on supporting independent news and information in conflict-affected countries through EU-funded initiatives. Previously, as Project Director for MAJALAT at EuroMed Rights from June 2019 to April 2021, Yon promoted constructive dialogue between civil society and the EU on various thematic areas. Earlier roles included EU Partnership Manager at Plan International, where strategic engagements with EU institutions were developed, and Senior Project Manager at Cowater International, which involved delivering technical assistance in governance for emerging economies. Educational qualifications include a Master's in Political Science from Université catholique de Louvain and advanced studies in Arabic and Political Science related to the Arab world.
