Joe Clarke

Joe Clarke has extensive experience in engineering and technical leadership roles, notably at Cisco Systems since 1998, where Joe currently serves as a Distinguished Services Engineer. Clarke's contributions extend to the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) as a Co-Chair for the OPS Area Working Group since 2017, where oversight of new documents and consensus building for internet standards occur. In the open-source community, Clarke is a committer for FreeBSD since 2002, contributing to its development. Additionally, Clarke has played a vital advisory role at North Carolina State University for various Electrical and Computer Engineering senior design projects, guiding students on innovative topics such as TCP tunneling and SIP implementations. Other roles include Lead XML Developer for the Common Vulnerability Reporting Framework with the Industry Consortium for Advancement of Security on the Internet (ICASI) and involvement with Citizen Schools as a teacher. Clarke holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of Miami.
