Dr. Lyz Amarillo has a diverse work experience in the mental health field. Since 2022, they have been working as a Core Clinical Mental Health Faculty at Walden University. Prior to this, they held various roles at FRIEND FAMILY HEALTH CENTER, including Director of Behavioral Health and Behavioral Health Consultant, starting in 2016. Dr. Lyz Amarillo also worked as a Clinical Therapist at Chicago Behavioral Hospital in 2015. From 2011 to 2016, they served as a Professor of Psychology at St. Augustine College. Additionally, they have held positions at The Women Treatment Center, Heartland Alliance for Human Needs & Human Rights, Mercy Home for Boys and Girls, Metropolitan Family Services, Lutheran Social Services of Illinois, and Med-Ex Ambulance, gaining experience in program management, case management, and as an EMT.
Dr. Lyz Amarillo, EdD., LPC-S(TX) LCPC(IL), LPC-MHSP(TN), NCC,CADC, began their education journey in 2006 at Argosy University Chicago. Dr. Lyz Amarillo completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology in 2008. Following this, they pursued further studies at the same institution and obtained their Master of Arts degree in Community Counseling between 2008 and 2010.
