Mike Hayden started their career in 2012 as a Web Developer at Everywhere Digital, where they worked for three years and gained extensive experience in JavaScript and PHP. Mike then moved on to become a Technical Lead, managing a small team and restructuring workflows. In 2015, they began working as a freelance Full Stack Engineer, collaborating with corporate clients and startups to provide innovative solutions. During this time, they developed strong project management and client relationship skills. In 2018, they joined General Assembly as an Instructor, teaching web development to adult students in a bootcamp-style course. After two years, they became the Curriculum Lead, implementing changes to enhance the course's effectiveness. In 2019, they joined FutureLearn as a Software Engineer, where they worked until April 2021. Finally, in 2018, they co-founded Frontend Mentor and took on the role of CTO.
Mike Hayden attended Newcastle University from 2005 to 2008, where they received a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Music.
