Stephen Lead

Stephen Lead has a diverse range of work experience in the technology and GIS industries. Stephen has served as a Gopher for Ignite Talks Sydney since 2023. Prior to this, they held the position of Head of Technology at Ignite Talks PBC since 2015, where they played a key role in organizing Ignite events worldwide. Stephen also co-founded Full Extent in 2012, where they served as a web GIS developer. Stephen founded and programmed GeoPortal Genie in 2013, a front-end tool for Esri's Geoportal Server. Additionally, Stephen has experience as a producer, curator, and host for Ignite Sydney since 2008. Stephen has also worked at Ajilon as a Consulting Principal in Location Intelligence and as a Business Analyst. Previously, they held the position of Senior GIS Analyst at the NSW Department of Lands and worked as a Cartographer at British Aerospace Australia. Stephen began their career at ESRI Australia as a Technical Support representative before transitioning to ESRI UK as a Pre-Sales representative.

Stephen Lead attended the University of Sydney from 1992 to 1996, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture with a second-class honors (2:1) degree.
