Jim Hertwig has extensive experience in the transportation industry. Jim currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of FYX Fleet Roadside Assistance since August 2022. Prior to this, they were a Senior Chairman at the Transportation Institute at the University of Denver starting in July 2019. From January 2018 to November 2019, they worked as the Principal Consultant at Hertwig Transportation Consulting.
Notably, Jim served as the President and CEO of Florida East Coast Railway from July 2010 to December 2017. In this role, they were responsible for day-to-day operations, sales results, and the implementation of strategic plans to increase intermodal traffic and rail transport in South Florida ports.
Before Florida East Coast Railway, Jim worked as the President of CSX Intermodal from July 2004 to July 2010. Prior to that, they held the position of President at Landstar Logistics from October 1995 to July 2004.
Their earlier experiences include serving as the President and CEO of Carolina Freight Carriers from January 1994 to September 1995, as well as the President and CEO of Con-way Intermodal from September 1985 to October 1994. Jim also worked as the President of CF Truckload Services from 1986 to 1987, and started their career as a Division and Terminal Manager at Consolidated Freightways Inc from April 1972 to September 1985.
Jim Hertwig started their education in 1969 at Frederick Community College, where they studied Business Administration until 1970. Jim then transferred to Gannon University in 1970 and continued their studies in Business Administration until 1972. From 1972 to 1973, Jim attended Jamestown Community College, where they also pursued Business Administration. It is not specified whether Jim obtained any degrees during their time at these institutions.
