Ian Johnston

Ian Johnston has a diverse work experience that spans multiple industries. Ian started their career at UBS Investment Bank, where they supported the Leveraged Finance legal team in financing acquisitions across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Ian then moved on to Allen & Overy LLP, where they worked as a Trainee Solicitor before becoming an Associate and later a Senior Associate. At Allen & Overy LLP, they advised lenders and borrowers on various financial transactions, including syndicated lending and leverage finance. Ian also gained experience in structuring sports financing arrangements for major football clubs and providing legal advice on media rights, sponsorship agreements, and intellectual property rights.

In 2014, Ian joined Liberty Global as a Senior Legal Counsel and was later promoted to Director, Senior Legal Counsel. Ian provided legal support and guidance to the company on various matters. In 2020, they joined Liberty Latin America as Vice President, Finance Counsel before assuming their current role as Vice President, Head of Corporate Finance in February 2021.

Ian Johnston attended Eltham College from 1994 to 2001. From 2001 to 2005, they pursued a degree in Law and French Law at Worcester College, Oxford University, focusing on Jurisprudence. Following that, they attended BPP Law School from 2005 to 2006, obtaining a Legal Practice Course degree specializing in Banking, Corporate, Finance, and Securities Law.
