Dr. Joseph Mafofo

Dr. Joseph Mafofo is an experienced professional in the fields of genomics and molecular pathology, currently serving as the Director of Omics Laboratory Operations and Head of Genomics at G42 Healthcare since June 2020, where involvement includes overseeing the largest Population Genome Sequencing project to date. Prior to this role, Dr. Mafofo managed the Genomics laboratory at the National Reference Laboratory from September 2019 to June 2020 and held various positions at Agiomix and Alliance Global Group, focusing on scientific support and technical management. With a strong foundation in research, Dr. Mafofo has also worked as a Senior Researcher at the Agriculture Research Council and as a Research Officer at Central Veterinary Laboratories. Dr. Mafofo holds a PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of the Western Cape, an MSc in Biotechnology from the University of Zimbabwe, and a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Applied Biology and Biochemistry from the National University of Science and Technology (ZW).
