Brian West

Brian West has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Brian is currently an Engineer IV (Principal Engineer) at GAF Energy since February 2022. Prior to that, they held the role of Senior Product Development Engineer at GAF Energy starting in October 2019.

Before joining GAF Energy, Brian worked as a Senior Design Engineer at Alion Energy, Incorporated from August 2018 to October 2019. Brian also served as an Associate Manager, Solar Systems Mechanical Engineering at Tesla from March 2017 to June 2018.

Brian's earlier experience includes roles at SolarCity, where they worked as a Product Development Manager from November 2015 to February 2017, and as a Principal Engineer from January 2015 to November 2015. Brian also worked at Zep Solar as a Senior Product Engineer, Licensing Program from May 2011 to December 2014.

Brian's career in the renewable energy industry began in 2005 as a Lead Design Engineer at EchoFirst, Inc. (formerly PVT Solar, Inc). While at EchoFirst, they specialized in solar system design and played a key role in developing a revolutionary solar energy system.

In addition to their professional roles, Brian has also volunteered at GRID Alternatives in the past, and they have contract experience as a Mechanical Engineer at Green Mountain Engineering and Tilia, Inc. Brian started their engineering career at Aqueduct Medical as a Mechanical Engineer.

Brian West attended Virginia Tech from 1988 to 1993, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.
