Matthew Roy

Matthew Roy is an experienced sports writer and editor with a strong background in journalism. Since May 2020, Matthew has been working as a free agent sports writer for GateHouse Media. Prior to this role, Matthew served as Assistant Editor at The Gardner News from November 2015 to May 2020 and worked as a general assignment reporter at The Daily Item from May 2000 to November 2015. Additional freelance reporting experience includes a position at the Boston Herald in early 2014, as well as a role as Sports Reporter and sports editor at Peabody/Lynnfield Weekly News from February 2012 to January 2014. Matthew holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications with a focus on Journalism from Salem State University, completed in 2006.
