Andrew Smith

Andrew Smith has over 10 years of professional experience in software engineering, teaching, and entrepreneurship. In 2021, they began their current role as a Staff Software Engineer at Gather. Prior to this, they were a Software Instructor at DevelopIntelligence, a Pluralsight Company from 2018-2021. From 2016-2018, they were a Senior Software Engineer at Transparent Classroom, where they eventually shifted to Lead Engineer for the entire company. From 2015-2016, they were a Web Development Engineer II at Amazon Web Services, where they were lead web developer for a new AWS service and heavily influenced product development and user experience from inception. Additionally, Andrew has worked as a Software Engineering Intern at Carbon Lighthouse in 2014, a Project Manager at Engineers for a Sustainable World in 2010, and a Sustainable Development Engineer at Chife Foundation in 2011. At Stanford University, they served as a Teaching Assistant for AEC Entrepreneurship (CEE246) from 2011-2012, a Class Lead & Project Manager for CEE 277X & 277S from 2011-2012, and a Net-Zero Energy Building Design Project for CEE 226E in 2011.

Andrew Smith obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Civil Engineering from the University of Portland between 2004 and 2008. Andrew then earned a Master of Science (M.S.) in Sustainable Design & Construction from Stanford University between 2010 and 2012. In 2013, they obtained a LEED Green Associate certification from the USGBC.
