Harald Smit

Harald Smit has a diverse work experience spanning several positions and companies. Harald started their career as a Service Technician for Wärtsilä, where they performed engine overhauls and repairs on various engine types. Harald then worked as a Chief Engineer on board MV Logos II, where they managed the technical operations of the engine room and oversaw maintenance programs. After that, they worked as an Exclusive Marine Surveyor for Bureau Veritias, conducting surveys and issuing certificates for different types of vessels. Harald then returned to GBA Ships e.V. as a Chief Engineer, where they continued to manage the technical operations on board MV Logos II and later MV Doulos and MV Logos Hope. Harald also worked as a Project Manager and Chief Engineer at OM Ships International, leading projects related to the development of a new office. Finally, they returned to GBA Ships e.V. as a Technical Manager and Chief Engineer, responsible for ensuring compliance with international rules and regulations and overseeing maintenance processes and upgrades on the vessel. Harald Smit's work experience demonstrates their expertise in technical and operational management within the maritime industry.

Harald Smit has a strong educational background in Maritime Studies and Marine Engineering. Harald began their education in 1982 at Maritime College IJmuiden, where they earned a Marine Engineering Degree from 1982 to 1984. Harald then pursued further studies at Maritime College Rotterdam, where they obtained a Chief Engineer degree from 1987 to 1988.

Throughout their career, Harald also engaged in various additional studies and training courses related to Factory and Safety Training, as well as License Upgrades, enhancing their expertise in Maritime Studies. These miscellaneous studies were completed between 1992 and 2019.

In addition to their formal education, Harald holds the prestigious Certificate of Competency - C/E Unlimited, which they obtained in March 2017 from the Dutch Maritime Authorities. This certification further establishes their professional competence and proficiency in the field.
