Kris Johnstone, MCIM, has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Currently serving as the Director of Communications for GBA Ships e.V., Kris leads the global communications and marketing team, shaping the organization's message and engagement strategy worldwide. Kris also oversees marcomms functions in North America and Europe while managing the communications and content teams on board their ships. Prior to this, Kris worked as a Marketing Project Coordinator at Construction Scotland Innovation Centre in 2021. From 2013 to 2021, Kris held multiple roles at Operation Mobilization, including Head of Marketing and Engagement, Communications Officer for Creative & Content, and Communications and Media Coordinator. Kris also had a marketing secondment at Dignity Freedom Network in 2014. Earlier in Kris' career, they worked as Store Manager at Jack Wills | Aubin & Wills, Copywriter Intern at story, and Marketing Assistant at Scott-Moncrieff. Overall, Kris has contributed to shaping marketing and communication strategies, enhancing digital marketing offerings, and driving organizational activity across various organizations.
Kris Johnstone, MCIM, pursued a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree in Communication, Advertising, and PR from Edinburgh Napier University. This educational journey spanned from 2006 to 2010. Building on this foundation, Kris went on to obtain a Master of Science degree in Creative Advertising from Edinburgh Napier University in 2010-2011. Additionally, Kris Johnstone holds several certifications that further enhance their expertise. These include "Innovation in Marketing" and "The Digital Customer Experience" from the CIM | The Chartered Institute of Marketing, obtained in July 2022 and March 2022, respectively. Kris also earned a certification in "Copywriting Not-For-Profit" from the Institute of Data & Marketing in January 2020.
