James Armstrong

Director Advanced Systems -cooking Products at GE Appliances

James Armstrong has extensive work experience in the appliance industry, particularly with GE Appliances. James began their career with GE Appliances in 2003 as a Design Engineer, where they coordinated the design and development of a thermal system for a wall oven upgrade. James also led design reviews and was responsible for resolving design and manufacturing issues with suppliers.

In 2008, Armstrong took on the role of Quality Black Belt, where they focused on reducing service issues and improving the design robustness of cooking products. James developed corrective actions that resulted in significant cost-saving and led efforts to analyze test failures and implement corrective actions. James also created a connector design guide to reduce business risks and aid engineers in proper gauge and connector selection.

From 2009 to 2010, Armstrong served as a Program Manager, overseeing various projects related to cooking products.

In 2010, Armstrong became a Lead Advanced Systems Engineer, responsible for designing, fabricating, and testing innovative products and features for ovens, vent hoods, and microwaves. James filed 22 US Patent Applications during their tenure.

In 2014, Armstrong was promoted to Principal Advanced Systems Engineer, a role they held until 2019.

Finally, in 2019, Armstrong assumed the position of Director Advanced Systems - Cooking Products, where they continue to contribute their expertise and leadership.

James Armstrong received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Louisville from 1997 to 2002. James then pursued a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology from 2003 to 2007.
