Iulia Tamas

Iulia Tamas has a diverse and extensive work experience. Iulia currently works as an Engineering Manager for Gem, where they lead the Talent Analytics team in building Gem's Talent Compass product. Prior to this, they held the role of Engineering Manager at Vise, where they worked from April 2021 to November 2021. Before that, they were a Senior Software Engineer at Vise from September 2021 to November 2021.

From 2018 to 2021, Iulia worked at Dropbox as a Senior Software Engineer. Iulia played a significant role in redesigning and reimplementing the Dropbox Sync Engine, making it more reliable, performant, and principled. Iulia was involved in the project from its early stages to its full-scale implementation. Iulia also worked on developing and scaling the Asynchronous Event Delivery and Lambda Execution System at Dropbox from 2016 to 2018.

Before their time at Dropbox, Iulia was engaged in research and advisory roles at Yale University. As a Student Researcher, they implemented state machine replicated data structures and worked on decentralizing the authority of security-critical services. Iulia also served as a Student Adviser for the Computer Science Department, where they addressed concerns and organized events for Computer Science students. Additionally, they worked as a Peer Tutor for Computer Science and Mathematics, helping students understand and apply course material. Iulia was also a Romanian Language Tutor and a Co-founder of CodeGen, an organization aimed at helping students gain confidence in Computer Science.

Iulia began their career as a Software Engineer Intern at Dropbox, where they worked on the Platforms and Libraries team, focusing on Python and C++ interface bindings and type declarations. Iulia also interned as a Web Platform Intern at Adobe.

Iulia Tamas obtained their Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Yale University from the year 2012 to 2016.
